When I started Bandroom.com Publications in 1996, the internet was still rather young. In fact, I was among the first to create a virtual "music store" in cyberspace. At that time, I had just had a method book (Directional Warm-Ups for Band) published by Warner Brothers/Belwin Mills and I was very discouraged by how little effort they put into promoting it. And since i had to "sign away" my rights to the work in order to have it published, I had no say in the matter. So I decided to start my own online "publishing company" in order to retain those rights. I also thought that the internet could be an effective tool for band directors by delivering part samples, sound files, and detailed information about the pieces (range, challenges, etc).
Now that the years have passed, most other music publishers have created web sites to promote their materials. However, while most offer sound files of their works, very few offer the band director pertinent information about each piece (ranges, difficulties, etc) and sample parts and pages from the conductor's score.
While my skills as a webmaster may not have progressed much with the years, I still believe the music offered here to be first-rate . . . if it fits your band's needs. Please browse through some titles and see what you find. All of the recordings were made by real bands to give you a real idea of how the piece sounds.
